About Banteay Samre

(Located 17.3 km from the city center) is an ancient temple complex located approximately 20 kilometers east of Siem Reap, Cambodia. The temple was built in the early 12th century during the reign of King Suryavarman II, who also constructed the famous Angkor Wat temple complex. Banteay Samre is known for its intricate carvings and architectural style, which are similar to those found at Angkor Wat. The temple is surrounded by a moat and features a central sanctuary tower, as well as several galleries and smaller towers.
