Generally, Vi Da village is thought of as a dreamlike image with poetic scenery, a moonshine river wharf, turquoise green gardens, and areca trees chasing the brilliant rays of the sun. Vi Dá is a destination of Hue City.
Vi Da lies quietly beside the Huong River but with its new name Con Hen, which is located at Vi Da ward, Hue city, Thua Thien Hue province. This place was given the name Con Hen (Mussel Islet) because there are many clams in this area. The name "Huong River clam" which is the best clam to put into the famous Com Hen (Clam Rice) of Hue is from this area.
If you have the opportunity to visit Hue, come to Vi Da to enjoy the clam rice once, as only the clam rice here is the best with the right taste and most Hue flavors. Con Hen is also known as "Hue culinary islet" with corn sweet soup vendors and dishes from clams such as clam soup, clam noodles, stir-fried mussels with rice paper, etc which all have rich flavor of the ancient capital.
Con Hen today is famous for dishes made from clams, but still retains itself as an ancient Vi Da area in Han Mac Tu's poetry. Hundreds of years have passed by with many changes but Vi Da still seems to keep its "youth". There are still small ancient one-story houses hiding under the peaceful and quiet green trees. There are still images of "looking at the sun rising up behind areca trees, the new sunshine" (nhin nang hang cau nang moi len) and "the garden is as green as gems" (vuon ai muot qua xanh nhu ngoc), which carry the special feature of the dreamy garden houses of Hue.
Vi Da - Con Hen is still so beautiful in tourists' heart and and green despite bustling streets and people passing by. If you come to Hue and want to find a peaceful, fresh feeling, enjoy the river view, witness the "sad water flow and the tottering cornflowers", you should hire a cyclo to go around Vi Da village, enjoy specialties and take pictures of yourself with clouds, sky, water, and green bamboo.
Vi Da is hardly influenced by urbanization and is still ancient, quiet, mellow and dreamy. Con Hen is deposited by the alluvium of Huong river, located on the left side of Hue Citadel, and is a famous tourist attraction of the ancient capital. If you have "once visited the dreamy Hue", do not forget to visit Con Hen to discover Vi Da dreamlike village.
